A player to keep your eye on is Musselman's junior Taylor Allen, she is a very dynamic all-around player. She is a dominate attacker, and a great passer and defensive player. She was the POY in the Eastern Panhandle last season (Martinsburg Journal)and has been very impressive in the early scrimmages.
Musselman and Parkersburg have to be two of the favorite teams coming into the season. I realize summer tournaments are not always an accurate barometer because not all teams participate but both Musselman and Parkersburg were impressive in the summer season. Parkersburg won the first two tournaments(Charleston Catholic tourney and PHS tourney) Musselman won the Philip Barbourt tournament defeating Parkersburg in the finals(Muss did not participate in the other two tournaments). Musselman has everyone back from last years strong team and if the state tournament's program is accurate they could have 10 seniors on the roster.

Some of the top teams should be Spring Valley, Huntington, Musselman, GW, and Greenbrie East. I really don't know any of the players but here are some of teams I think will challenge for the state crown.
Parkersburg always seems to have a good team and Beckley Woodrow Wilson only lost one senior from their semi-final team last year. In AA, Independence will be a team to watch.

Woodrow started two freshman that I know of from last year - Emily Ernest played Libero and Anne Patterson played middle hitter. Woodrow will be very tough this year, brining most everyone back.
I beleive 33 was Jasmine Wood, a hard hitter. She is a senior this year. The small girl who has jumps is Shatice Trigg, a junior.

Watch for Alyssa Hunt from Independence High School. She was first team AA all state last year as a sophomore. One particular improvement in her game from last year is her jump serving.

Indy's libero is Brandy Thompson. She is a senior this year and has started at libero since her freshman year. She'll be playing at the next level for sure.
Emily Wymer - RCB; monster
Emily Wymer - RCB; monster hitter who plays all the way around
Jenna Weightman - Bridgeport; libero that is all over the floor
Sarah McCauley - PB; best setter in the north-central, period.
Jenna Swiger - SH; up and coming hitter
Liberty and Lincoln - both good young AA teams that will pull an upset or two; same goes for Lewis County in AAA
Doddridge County - rebuilding, but look for them to be ready by playoff time
East Fairmont - Debbie Spears leaves Liberty to take over the Bees; should be interesting to see what she can do there.
