Stats are a great tool for the coach to improve the playing ability of the team. I highly doubt that many of the post season stats, especially the ones used for all state are correct. I feel bad for the players whose coach is truthful and has not inflated the stats. Shame on the coaches who feel the need to exaggerate to make their players look good.

Stats are good to have when they're kept with integrity and not exaggerated. I have kept stats for my kids for many years and I've always done so in a very conservative manner. How people take pride in receiving post season recognition because of inflated stats is something I can't understand.

Many of the in state schools post stats on maxpreps.com. It's a great site, run by CBS Sports and posts teams nation wide. It would be great if more coaches used Internet posting sites for stats to see how there teams and players are stacking up against the competition - even though we all know that stats can be misleading.
