Ranking Teams in Conferences
Let me start by saying that this is not to offend or upset or make anyone mad. i only see a few teams or areas talked about so this is a post trying to include discussions/debates (friendly) on more teams in the state. so i thought i would rank the teams in conferences in hope that people that know more on certain teams will post things. let me say i have not seen all these teams and could not name a member of alot of these teams. i am basing these on teams that i do know. either personally seen or what i have read in newspapers or read on this board. for example i have never seen the eastern panhandle teams but will try to make a guess based on what i have read. and some will be a guess because i have never heard anything. i am just a fan that would like to hear about more then just a few teams. feel free (and hoping) you all put your own lists together. with that said i think that the MSAC and NCAC appear to be the toughest conferences. now to my inexact rankings

is Washington in this conference?
i don't know the name of the conference with wheeling park and them but they would be my pick for their conference. like i said i could not even tell you where some of these teams are from and i pulled some of my rankings from a hat. just trying to get info about more teams from the people in those areas.
Games thus far
Any comments about the games everyone has seen thus far? I know Jefferson had a blow out win against a pretty inferior team and plays #5 in AA Berkeley Springs tonight. Martinsburg plays Goretti and Hedgesville plays a tough Allegheny team. I saw that Parkersburg South had a blowout win and Huntington won as well even though Bays had an off shooting night
Excellent post xcbball
Here is what I see that could happen in the NCAC.
1. Morgantown, North Marion, University - tie - each will split their season series.
4. Fairmont Senior
5. Elkins
6. East Fairmont
7. Buckhannon
8. Preston
I agree with your assessment that the NCAC could be broken into two groups. It should be a very exciting season in the NCAC and in the north.

Hmm the tournament this Monday and Tuesday should be good with #1, 4 and 5 in it. Should be a measuring stick for teams to see what they need to work on for when it really counts during the state champtionships.
I'm surprised North Marion didn't jump to #1 since they haven't lost either
Morgantown Holiday Tournament
Monday December 29
Martinsburg vs. Parkersburg South @ 3:30
Morgantown vs. Winfield @ 6:30
Tuesday December 30 the two winners from Monday will play at 6:30 and the two losers will play at 3:30.
I am looking forward to seeing all 3 teams coming to Morgantown.
Martinsburg's starting point
Martinsburg's starting point guard might be out so not sure how well they will do with Parkersburg but if she's out and they come close or even win then the rest of the state better look out. Morgantown will easily make it to the finals because Winfield is no match
Morgantown Tournament
I smell an upset!
I'm glad they ranked
I'm glad they ranked Martinsburg low that way they don't get a big head and have even more to prove. Sometimes being preseason number 1 can be more of a curse than a blessing.
Parkersburg South
South won the championship last year and have some of their starters returning this year. Will be interesting to see the North Marion - South matchup that is scheduled soon, I believe.
While south is not in a conference, they are worthy of mentioning as a top team possibility for this year.
Coaches Preseason Rankings

NO WAY
No way should Jefferson and John Marshall be in the preseason top ten, as for the rest of the teams listed I would agree, all top ten.
Ranking
You are right. Jefferson and John Marshall will not be very good this year. John Marshall will get beat early at Musselman(this game will be a 20 point blow out).
As for the rest they all play each other early so we will be able to tell. NM plays Motown--University plays Nitro---Martinsburg plays Motown. We will be able to tell the true rankings early.
Blowout
I have to admit I was wrong. John Marshall did not get beat by 20 points today.
what was the score of the
what was the score of the musselman vs. john marshall game? how did they play?
Next Friday
North plays Woodrow Wilson next Friday in an early season rematch of last years quarter final. I am interested in seeing how Reynolds plays following her knee injury. I thought before her injury that she was the best prospect in the state.

why do you have to know so bad? is it
because motown is not #1 so you have
to ask him why.
melo15
I could care less if Morgantown is #1. I just don't see a big difference among the Big 3. I think any of the three can be #1.
I don't have to know so bad, lets just say I was curious.
Apple Valley
I can only speak for the Apple Valley Conference so i'd say
1. Martinsburg
2. Hedgesville
3. Jefferson
4. Musselman
5. Berkeley Springs
6. Goretti
7. Washington
After reading some of the post it might be close between 2-4 all of those positions can just flip flop because they are similar but Martinsburg should come out as #1 in the conference. Washington is brand new and will barely win any games this season and I've heard Goretti isn't very good but we play them next Wednesday so we'll see.
107-31
Martinsburg beat a pitiful Goretti team 107-31 last night and NOOO they did not just try to run up the score. The only pressed a few times and just went with a half court trapping defense the rest of the game. Also with only 9 players they had to have one starter in at all times. And you can't expect the bench to go in and not give their all. Thankfully they know future games will be much tougher. Jefferson beat the #5 AA team by about 19 although they were down by 4 at the half. And Hedgesville beat Alleghany by 4 a team that Martinsburg beat by around 20 in a scrimmage so things are looking good so far. The biggest test will come in the Morgantown Holiday tournament
In your breakdown of the
In your breakdown of the NCAC, can I ask what led you to ranking North Marion, University and Morgantown in the order you did? Was this based on last season or expectations for this season?
i really think that the ncac
i really think that the ncac can be broken into two groups and i think that parity is there within those two groups. the first group would be the big three. north, mhs, and uhs. i would not have a problem with any of them being number one in the conference. i think they all could beat each other. i put north first because i think they have the most talent and usually talent wins out. i was going to put mhs two all the way up until i started typing my rankings. they have owned uhs as of late and may very well own them again. i guess i put uhs two instead because i felt that mhs would be the "safe" pick for number two and no one would give me their rankings and uhs has played well this summer and have a lot of talent as well. i thought i would spice things up a little by switching them. however no one else is still giving their personal rankings so i guess it did not work. i just wanted other people's views so we could open up the discussion to more then just a few teams always talked about on here. i think the second group of the ncac is the other five and i really think that any of those five could beat each other in that group on any giving night. east and west fairmont are usually good. elkins is usually behind them but is good to win a game they probably should not every year and the johnson girl is an excellent player. i think preston has come a long ways from where they were 4-5 years ago and seem to have things going the right direction and lost to NM in the regional championship last year but i know they lost a lot of their main core of players. i know BU struggled alot last year but i actually saw them play over the summer and was impressed with where they were this summer compared to last year. i would like those responding to this thread to give their opinions and rankings as well. i think the more differing opinions the better.
