Enjoyed your comments, what led you to the game? after attending the game did you agree with the coaches you talk to that North lacks fundamentals? I agree totally that North has several threats, and you are spot on about Speed and athletism, but I think you left out a few things.

Attitude is very important, you need to have a positive team player attitude, a team win is better then an individual anything. Guts and grit (your players are not going to give up until the end). Team comes first sacrifice for the good of the team. A good support system, keep up the positive reinforcement. Also skills conditioning (taking care of your body), technique, schemes, coaching and all those things that play a part in the game.

None of the team should be boasting or thinking about college (except maybe the senior). Those are things that take care of themselves. If your playing 100%, if your good you will get noticed. When kids start thinking about college especially younger Kids, one will lose focus of the team and run to the stat sheet and forget about team play and now that becomes individual play. (Stats are for fans) Don't need that on a team with so many good players. Summer ball and camps can help that college exposure if a played is inclined to get that exposure.

I don't think North got tired, think they got a little laxed when they got up by about 17. The coach called a good timeout, recharged the girls, slowed things down, went to higher percentage shots, to the end of the game, didn't think there was anything sloppy about that. Not to mention Park So. is pretty loaded and are pulling from a population of about 3 or 4 to 1 compared to north.

That may have been one of the biggest regular season victories in North Marion history, I don't boast about that, it's exciting for the program.

Hope you get to see more games, I sure enjoy watching those North girls play.

Its unfortunate that only 2 of the 3 teams ranked in the states top 5 will come out and go to Charleston. Morgantown may be hurting some without Michael if she is still out. It is going to be a great state tournament with 8 great or at least good teams.Unlike in the past when there were a few teams that did not belong.

Yeah North played very well and it was a good win for the Huskies, as for Byard she did not shoot very well but did the little things right as she always seems to do. Makes those long court passes better than anyone and got her fair share of rebounds, assists, and steals. She is def. the real deal as you stated and when she is hitting those jump shots she is deadly with all the other attributes about her game.

After attending the game against Park South and North I have to say that I am not sure which would win in a match-up on neutral territory. Both teams looked pretty evenly matched. Most high school teams have one or two players that are threats and sometimes three. You can normally play a triangle and cover those necessary without having to worry about everyone. To Norths credit they have at least 7-8 that are all threats. I was a little surprised to see that the bench was not used as much as should have. You start getting tired girls and they play sloppy ball towards the end. I played college ball and talk with several coaches in the area about the teams coming up and I have to say the majority say that North lacks fundamentals. Speed and athletisim can take you a long way, but lacking fundamentals can cost you a college career. North has two that are being looked at closely and they are both sophomores. That is pretty impressive for a team to boast. I hope to see them again and wish them the best.

yes whoever wins this game should definitely be #1 overall going into the state tournament and deservedly so
