Musselman-Hedgesville game
If this game doesn't really mean anything,why play it? I mean,you risk injury. We are very thin at a few positions and only go about 6-7 deep on the bench. So,for what reason do we play? It really doesn't matter and I think there may be some hard feelings.
It's only a game, get over it
Yes, Musselman beat Hedgesville twice, and Martinsburg beat everyone twice and Jefferson split w/ Musselman and Hedgesville. So other than Martinsburg the other teams are pretty even. Ten years or even five years from now will it really matter. Let the CHILDREN play ball and have fun. I know it's high school varsity ball but how many will go to the next level. Let them enjoy the moment.
The seedings don't seem fair but this a new format and the bugs have to be worked out. I'm sure that the quality of competition had something to do with how teams are picked as well as their win/loss records. Wins over a Goretti don't impress as much as a close loss to University or Nitro.
Hvillefan, your passion is admirable but every team in the area has had sick/injured players and the same refs. Do these factors make a difference? Yes, but if Nikki or Morgan had been sick/injured would you have been saying that Hedgesville beat a less than 100% team or would your girls have been the better team. You have bench for a reason. True there may be a talent drop but as a coach you take that into account when you pick your team.
As for the comment of holding the top scorer of a team under their average and you having the high scorer in the game, it's a TEAM sport. What difference does it make what an individual does? It's what the team does. I'm sure Dezi Clinton would have traded being the game's high scorer for the win against Martinsburg.

I love your last sentence!! I will agree with your whole post! Just letting you know since I am not the bad fan that I am being made out to be. I ALSO agree this is HIGH SCHOOL and they are still children, excuse me, young ladies.
As a parent or fan, its easy to get caught up in all the hype and excitement. I only made the statement about the high scorer thing out of trying to make another person be quiet. Sorry about that one. I truly love this game because it is a TEAM sport and I love to see a great pass as much as a score.
That all being said, I cant wait till the playoffs, win or lose!

Anytime a young athlete is injured we all are sorry to this happen, as for the rough comment "Big Green" plays a physical game much like the style Chris Custard from Martinsburg plays with great success, finesse, speed and in you face defense along with determination wins games and apparently you can't handle this type of play, this is not rec league this is varsity basketball.

EXCUSE ME NEW PERSON. The way your team plays is NOTHING like Martinsburgs, and "Chris Custard" lol team play. There is no need to insult our girls by your inference, that is uncalled for. I could say alot of things about your team AND coach, that you would not like but I will refrain. Looks like our girls held YOUR top scorer pretty well, we had the game high scorer on our team. So they didnt do their job that well now did they?
Obviously you are worried about Hedgesville or you wouldnt feel the need to come on here and liken them to a rec league team. GROW UP!
I think that your fans need to face facts, and that is that you have won some games that could have easily gone the other way, and have had ALOT of luck in some of the ones you have won. I get the feeling that Musselman fans, AS USUAL, think they are much better than they really are.
Bet you were worried most of the game werent you? It isnt the girls fault that the end of alot of our games have been mismanaged, and it also doesnt help when you are missing 2 of your main players, it messes up the flow of the game for them. All that matters now is who does well in sectional, good luck getting by Martinsburg!

I have given my honest assessment on the boards for months now and back a few months ago after we got pounded at home by Nitro I attested that we were not as good as our coach,nor fans,thought we were. As the season has went on I think we have proven that we are A) better than Hedgesville based on 2 wins over them (no excuses i.e. sickness or whatever) B) even with Jefferson at the very least with Martinsburg deserving of the top seed. The HHS-MHS game at Musselman the other night did nothing to change my mind. I think we are better NOW than HHS period. I was honest earlier in the season when I said we were below the other area teams because of how poorly we played.I do believe we have improved.We are just as good as Jefferson,better than Hedgesville in my opinion.But ,it is what it is.
I agree that Martinsburg gives our area the best chance of representation at the state tourny because of their schedule strength in the Metro Index and they have 2 talented college type players. But with that being said,I think Musselman could represent as our 2nd team,just as well or better than Jefferson and Hedgesville based on how we are playing now or have played vs those teams this year.This of course is all IF our sectional loser can beat the #1 seed in the Robert C Byrd region.
As for our defense,there is nothing special to it vs. HHS we just play a 2-2-1 press and wear down the guards

You have a lot of nerve Hvillefan commenting about "Musselman Fans thinking they are better than they really are"! Have you read your comments lately?? Who thinks they are better than anyone else?? You might want to take a look in the mirror on that one!! I guess the Lady Applemen showed last night beating the Lady Eagles, now twice, proves they didn't deserve to be 4th in the seeding! There are quite a few classy fans from Hedgesville, but you, apparently can't be named as one of them.

I am only calling it like I see it, Sporty. At least I am not making up different names and coming on here acting like I am more than one person! I happen to think that our girls ARE better than they have been given credit for, and I stand behind the fact that the game could have gone either way last night, AND that there are too many factors at play right now to say who REALLY is the better team. Yes, your record is better than ours, but it doesn't even matter now. I am just sick of hearing your fans complain. Fact is this: we now have TWO injured starters, and sickness running through the bench. If you think that the matchup would be the same had this not be the case, then think again.
I do not consider myself a bad person or fan, but then again, I am not coming on here and making up new names to state my case either. I am now, and always will be, Hvillefan. Thanks.

I have not made up a new name thank you!! I have been an observer of this board for the last 2 years and have NEVER made a comment. This board is like a big reality show, and I'm hooked! LOL Any game on any given night can go either way! If I recall, you or TheVille, if you're not one in the same person, have done nothing but bash and namecall. These are kids remember!! I highly doubt that any of the kids are on here bashing and smack talking like you are nor do they care! You have pointed fingers, named names, and keep claiming the excuses are sicknesses and injuries!! Give it up! Truth of the matter is, it's no big deal in the big scheme of things and you really need to grow up and take a look at how you are acting!! Actually I did go back and re-read most of my posts. I am sorry if you think I am someone I am not, but oh well, I think you are one in the same with another screen name or two, so we are even on that one.
I really have done no bashing or name calling, maybe you are a little too sensitive? I personally just got tired of hearing about the seeding from you guys when in reality WE as fans have nothing to do with it, and like another poster said, the other part of our section voted also and I am thinking that is where this seeding is coming from. Like they also said, you can see who did and didn't vote for your team after its all said and done. So stop making it into a personal issue on here like you, or whoever, has. This is what has caused most of this.
I may be wrong but I dont think I have named names or put kids names out there in a derogatory way. I am just here rooting for our girls, just like you, and only want fairness. Honestly, the game that has bothered me the most was the Berkeley Springs one, not the others and I will admit I did go on about that, so sue me, you had to be there to understand.
I dont really care what you suspect, it is also suspected who some (if not one in the same) of you Lady Appleman fans are too, so maybe we shouldnt go there.

Go read what bulldogfan was saying about their team having sickness and not being up to their usual selves. That was after having so many close games, I didnt think he was making excuses, just stating the facts, why is it any different for me to point it out? You are right, its not.

Of course, I would want to see everyone at full strength! It just seems like every game you go on about having injuries, illnesses or bad refs. Can't you just give the other team credit where credit is due no matter who the team is?
There is talent in the Eastern Panhandle and no matter who advances to the State Tournament, I will be cheering them on. Can you say the same?

I am over the games, and I have my opinions and am allowed to post them.
I have not used sickness and injury as an "excuse", its a fact. You tell me that if a few of your starters were really sick and/or injured you would not think that affects the team and the game? Got news for you buddy, it definitely does and will. Read bulldogfans posts about how it was affecting them, was he making excuses? His statements were no different than mine. Were they killing everybody then? NO, why do you think he told us this? I'll tell you why, its because it DOES affect a teams performance, thats why.
Lastly, I WILL be rooting for whichever team advances because its nice to get respect for our area from the rest of the state, and I know some girls from every team, and ONLY wish them well.
Musselman actually does worry
Musselman actually does worry me some they played us close last game although our girls are now starting to get healthy and they played a great team game last night. If they repeat the performance from last night Musselman won't have a chance. As much as a lot of people on here don't wanna admit our area needs Martinsburg to go to states. They are the only team that has even come close to beating any of the other top teams in the state and they have the best chance of going down there and not getting embarrassed. Since we play Musselman it looks like it will probably be us and Jefferson going to states. I just don't see Jefferson being able to challenge them especially with their lack of outside shooting

Well of course you play it, I think the original question was rhetorical. I am going to put this out there, I think that "the big green" is the roughest team in our area, physically. Luckily one of your worst at this got fouled out last night, surprises me she doesn't foul out every game.
So lets recap where we are now, we have 2 starters out due to injury, the most recent being in the first quarter of the game last night with a possible torn ACL. YAY us!!!!!

That's unfortunate, especially so close to sectionals, it doesn't leave much time to make the adjustments needed. What starters are out due to injury? Hopefully, the ACL injury will turn out not to be torn.
