Hedgesville wanted it more than Jefferson did obviously. Despite having the 3 stooges for referees for refs, who tired their hardest to take out all the big girls and major players. Its pretty bad when BOTH sides are complaining about them. Where are the decent ones in this area?????????
Back to the main subject, Hville played awesome and as a team! Something is different and i cant put my finger on it, but whtever it is they need to keep it up!
Next up is Goretti, and how much you wanna bet that Merica doesn't try running the score up on them? like some of our other local teams! The bench will probably play more than the starters do in this game.

Hedgesville vs Berkeley Springs
What happened last night? Berkeley Springs isn't a bad team or anything and they have some decent players but how did Hedgesville lose to them? Were some of the players sick or something? I'm not being sarcastic i'm really curious as to what happened? I know some of the area teams are dealing with a lot of sickness I think that flu bug from VA is working its way up here.

There is nothing to say at this point, except that I am pretty sure the sickness is over, HOPEFULLY! We have had girls playing sick for the last week or so, in fact when we beat Jefferson one of the players had been throwing up all day. Don't know for sure and I don't want to jinx us by saying it's over!
Last night was just ugly all the way around. Amber Booher 's shots just seemed to always roll in, ours seemed to roll around the rim and out. Other than that, our girls had to play not only against the team but also the refs. Sorry but it is a sad but true fact.
I hesitated even answering this thread because I don't want to be a whiner about the officials, but when fans from B Springs, whom we had to sit a squished in with, said that our girls had to play 5 against 6 or 7, I don't feel so bad saying it.
From the very start they were letting BSprings pound our girls under the basket, no calls, they were allowed to walk, carry, GO BACKCOURT, you name it, it was overlooked for BSprings and looked FOR in Hville. It was most definitely one sided in the calls. 1st half, before you know it, BSprings is in double bonus, 2nd half same thing. Now you add that to the fact the the refs were calling us for anything and everything and things we didnt even do, that adds up to alot of points for BSprings at the foul line. Us on the other hand, were lucky to get there much all night.
I want to give BSprings credit, they ARE a pretty good team this year, but so is Hville, the difference being mainly in this case, who the calls went for. Yea, we weren't shooting our best, yea we kept playing some great defense even though we knew the refs were calling touch and non-existent fouls on us, but the game WAS won at the foul line last night. literally. One other thing, their coach had the audacity to yell at his girls when we were making the FEW foul shots we got. It was a deliberate attempt to throw our shots off, its bad enough when kids do it, but when the head coach of the other team does it, well you know what I am saying. I guess he wanted that game bad enough to show that kind of sportmanship to his girls and his school.
You know the way I felt coming out of that gym last night was this, I don't care if I ever step foot in there again. Other than the refs, one of which we were told by a BSprings fan, is a janitor at the school, having to sit with their fans was just unpleasant!!! He is the one who made the difference too. It is getting so bad around here with the officials making a difference in the game, that it makes me sick, literally!

Weren't both teams in the bonus last night and didn't hville have a oppurtunity to capitalize and missed some crucial free throws down the stretch? Jess Haynes hit some big FT's down the stretch and I think that was key too.

Let me ask you a question, how many games that you attend do you see a team get into DOUBLE bonus in both halves? Hville most certainly wasn't in dbl bonus,and I think the only reason they got into bonus at all is because somebody looked up and said uh oh we better try to make this look a little better! Be honest because it doesn't happen that often, seriously. Bonus, yes, not DOUBLE BONUS in BOTH HALVES. And of course we missed some free throws, (it didnt help that YOUR coach was yelling instructions when our girls were shooting either!) but the real question is this, how many free throws did we NOT GET that we should have and how many of those free throws that B Springs got should they NOT HAVE?? I'll tell you how many, at least HALF of them, take away those free throws, and you guys were at the line half the night, and there is a totally different game! The refs were letting your girls commit INTENTIONAL fouls for crying out loud.Give us the ones we should have gotten and the game is totally different, Boarman and Leborious should have been at the line ALMOST everytime they made a shot under the basket! Brittany got a few calls, Katy never got to the line. Brittany was in EARLY foul trouble and shouldn't have been, Katy got fouled out of the game. I could go on but I won't. It was OBVIOUS that one of the referees was trying his best to get a couple of our best players out of the game. IF it would have lasted ANY longer we would have had another couple of girls fouled out. If you were there, and you obviously were, you have to admit that there were way too many troublesome calls, UNLESS you are a parent of a B Springs player, then I'm sure you were very happy. The refs last night DID change the outcome of the game period. There were B Springs fans sitting by us, (since we all had to sit smooshed up together, and BTW what school decides to tear our all those bleachers DURING the season??)that were actually not believing the calls that were made. What does that tell you? They were sitting there rooting for your team and admitted that the officials decided the game!
I am not taking away anything from your players, I think they are very good, but it would have been nice to see a FAIRLY CALLED game and I can bet you the outcome would have been very different, not huge but alot different than it was. Too bad we don't play again this season.

We couldn't do anything.Its just like when the middle school teams came up there.Always the same refs. Those guys sucked ,period and cost us the game. Its real easy to win when the visiting teams best players are spending time on the bench for unnecessary calls. One of the few decent BS fans told me that the Martinsburg game was even worse. I think Robinson he said had 2 fouls within a minute of the tipoff and had to go to the bench.It is a terrible atmosphere up there.Just rude people!It could effect our seeding. If BS had lost to us,oh welll,they were supposed to because we are tripleA. I see no reason for our AD to continue playing them when the refs are like that.

I agree, we did have the 3 stooges! But the ladies played awesome and limited Marshall and thats all you have to do to beat Jefferson ,just limit her. She is a heck of a player. We played as a TEAM,something our areas quote "best " teams don't do and I agree that coach Merica will not run the score up on Goretti like other classless teams do. Great teams effort and way to come up big. Now its time to win when it counts this week,especially against Martinsburg at home. It will be big for our seeding. I predict a close battle,we can beat them. They have shown they can be beat.

It doesn't seem like they are being blamed for the losses only that the refs can completely take over the game and any type of flow. In the Morgantown/Martinsburg game there were OVER 40 fouls called with both teams in the double bonus for the 4th quarter. It wasn't one sided one way or another and they weren't the reason Martinsburg lost but it just makes it a hard game to watch when any type of touch is called. Believe me I know being a ref at any level is difficult and it takes a special person to do that job

EXACTLY, they take over games and change the whole outcome AND flow. It's hard to play good bball when the whistle is blowing every 5 seconds..........

Well since I wasn't blaming, not sure what games you are talking about, but I will tell you this, we need some new ones in the EP! Some of these refs have been at it way too long and should retire. What I am saying is that they shouldn't have any type of control on the outcome of the game and they certainly have around here. The games should be determined by the teams, and the refs are supposed to be there to ensure that things don't get out of control and to enforce the rules, not make their own as they go, or interpret them differently every time.
But seriously, the refs in this game could give curly, joe and moe a run for their money!!
