First Round:
Musselman 49 - Hampshire 33
Hedgesville 80 - Washington 28
Second round:
Martinsburg vs Musselman
Jefferson vs Hedgesville
Anyone any commentary about how these games are gonna play out?
Looks like both Musselman and Hedgesville had some girls who had previously not been shooting well or at all, have good nights finally, along with the rest of their team. Will this continue into the games on Wednesday or will both teams be blown away? I saw where Hegesville has 2 starters out, how will that bode for them? Lets hear some opinions!
Rumor or fact?
I heard rumors the last couple of weeks and tonight that one of the girls from Hedgesville, who was formerly a starter, was unhappy that she wasn't playing and was quitting, so is that true? Or has she changed her mind since they have 2 injured starters and is now playing? This is a legitimate question since she was showing her obvious displeasure at sitting on the bench before. So what is the answer on this one? Rumor or fact?
Do not know if it is still
Do not know if it is still true but I was told the very same thing 2 weeks ago. Temper tantrum much?
Seniors?
Who are the various seniors on the local teams? I know Martinsburg will be losing Robinson, Rogers and Burkhart with Robinson being a huge loss. Who are the other teams losing? I still think even with the loss of Robinson that Martinsburg will be in the mix next year.
As far as starters,
As far as starters, Hedgesville loses Brittany Boarman and the injured Bekah Hayes. From the bench we lose Katy Sheehan, Jess Shirley, Brooke and Amber Stenson and Bekah Good.
I think Martinsburg will still be very good, but Iesha is THE leader of that team. She is a huge loss for them all the way around.
Next Year
We return M. Hayes,Grey,Jess Mason at guards. Katy will be back at forward and hopefully Hoffmaster will develop at Center for us. We will need some other kids to come up and help, but our Jv and freshmen were not overly talented this year.Martinsburg will still be good I agree, with Brewer back as well as Yolonda and Jamie and Dashel. They had some good girls on the JV as well that many thought should have played varsity.Musselman loses alot as does Jefferson losing Marshall and Clinton. But hey,its still this year and alot can happen between seasons (injuries, girls get better, etc)
GO EAGLES!!!
Thanks for the info
Thanks for the info ville. And your right the loss of Robinson will be a huge loss and they will need someone to step up and take a leadership role. Brewer will need to learn to trust her teammates and pass and they will all need to work on their skills throughout the offseason. I tell kids all the time just because your better than someone now doesn't mean they aren't working hard to get better and before you know it they've passed you because they were working when you were just sittin around. Jefferson losing Marshall and Clinton are big losses. But hey like you said its next year and you never know what kids might move to the area or transfer, or injuries that might put another team over the top.
Well it ought be interesting
Well it ought be interesting for sure! It is sorta sad though because tomorrow will be the end of the road for some of us and exciting because it could be a huge step to states also.
Who knew that our area would be so up and down and unexpected this year? I for one am happy for our girls, because no matter what happens tomorrow night, they are a team who should be hard to get by next year, IMHO.
I agree
We have another year to look forward to ,but I would love to see Brittany,The Stensons,B.Hayes and B.Good and Katie continue on in their senior season.I think we have a fighting chance tonite. And yes,it is sad for some of us. Even the rivals that lose those players that we have grown up with and battled all of these years.I know we have our issues, but I will miss girls that we have played against for years and years. May the best teams win and represent our area. I wish no ill will on the players or coaches from other teams if they make it.We are hard on our own coaches as fans as well as on opposing teams' coaches, but the fact of the matter is,these men and women work hard to help our kids and in todays world, when someone invests something positive in your kids or other kids we should be thankful regardless of how we like them as our coaches or how we like the rival coaches. Some coaches go way overboard trying to help our kids ,kids that are not theirs. The kids and coaches work hard and sometimes I think we don't see that like we should,we just cast blame. I have relatives in danger in Iraq and lately I have changed my perspective on things. And when I think of my daughter getting older and how much I will miss her playing sports if she doesn't continue and your right it is sad.
So,to all,I say best of luck tonite and may the best teams win and to the players and coaches, good job!
GO EAGLES!!!
Musselman
Our girls played well at times vs Hampshire and we let them make a few runs at us ,but always kept the lead.
Our freshmen and sophomore guards (the Hendersons) really surprised me in their reserve roles and so did Lewis. Especially Shantae. She was really poised for a playoff game and Meghan Shambaugh hit some nice jumpers and Nikki started hot and had like 14 at halftime.
We still turned the ball over more than you would like to see at this time of the year. I look for a real good game vs Martinsburg. We have to take care of the ball better to have a chance and keep their scorers down.I hope we come out on fire again and hopefully they are not shooting well. Our free throw shooting will have to improve,we have not been good all year from the charity stripe.
As far as hedgesville-Jefferson,hedgesville may be peaking at the right time despite injuries.Thye scored 80 albeit vs Washington.80 is 80.I pick Jefferson as a winner in a tight one.Hedgesville must slow Marshall to have a chance. It will be interesting to see 2 good coaches go at it in that one.
I think both games are sorta
I think both games are sorta a toss up. I think Musselman has a chance to beat Martinsburg unless Martinsburg plays like they did against Jefferson. Hedgesville vs Jefferson is a tossup as well. Just depends on what team shows up for Hedgesville. they have the shooters so who knows.
