Message board for WVIAC?

Does anyone know of a message board for girls/boys basketball in the WVIAC?

Congrats to PHS Player

Way to go Randi!

Bias and Whitney Bays

Hello, I am an HHS parent as a matter of fact I am Whitney Bays mom. I don't hide behind screen names and make comments about another child on an internet message board. Mr. Sang, Everyone says you are WVfireball on this site as well as the softball site. Whether that is true or not doesn't matter. Whitney nor I started a message about other players on this board nor did we question your daughters physical conditon or ability. And for you to question a back injury that she has spent hours and hours conditioning and rehabbing is pretty petty. I have no idea who xscout is and don't care but Whitney simply plays basketball. She doesn't deserve to have negative comments put on this site by anyone. We are happy for any athelete in the state that does well. It is unfortunate that insulting comments are made about a 16 year old kid that puts her heart and soul in her basketball. If you want to make negative comments about my daughter, my number is in the phone book. Call me, we can talk and quit hiding behind an internet name. Please leave Whitney out of any other messages. Promote your daughter and leave us out of it.

Small school - St. Joe in

Small school - St. Joe in Huntington has Dusty Chapman (point) jr, Jill Pulley (shooting guard) sr, and Sara Sang (post) so. Sara Sang may be the best player on the team and maybe in the whole area. She does not get the attention Bayes gets because she was playing travel softball, but is switching to basketball. 6' and quick.

Whitney Bays

Sir, With all due respect have you lost your mind? I am a national scout. Bays plays against the best players in the nation in travel ball each summer. She plays in the ELITE Tournaments !!! She is ranked in the top 10 (TEN) in every national player poll for the class of 2010. This is comparing her to the BEST PLAYERS in the COUNTRY. There is no comparison between her and any other player in WV. Believe me we watch them all at State Tournaments. It is a shame for Bays that she does not get the props do her from her own home state. Every DI University in the US is recruiting her. What is Sang ranked nationally in Softball?

whitney bays

Yes Whitney is a very good player probably one of the best in the state. I have seen her play several times. It is true she has been having various back problems even back to the spring aau season. Hopefully she will be fully recovered and rested. Is she the best player in the state? i'm not sure but she is very good. She has holes in her game and doesn't always play with a lot of fire and up to her talents but then again how many players actually do. Thankfully she is still just a junior and has more time to mature her game to be the best she can be. Oh and for those of you that think I don't know what i'm talking about or that i'm biased #1 i'm a martinsburg bulldog fan #2 i've been to various AAU tournaments from the Nationals in Disney to some of the elite tournaments in PA and DC so i've seen a lot of talented girls.

Ur Right Whitney Bays is an excellent top ten player...

Sir with all due respect,
if your a scout why are you even on this board, u should be outttt doing your job...You dont find players on forum message boards.... Whitney Bays is an awesome player as we all know and is well appreciated by this state, but there are also other good players in this state, you dont have to be a brat to other people on this website and disrespect there opinions....My daughter has been approached by one or more scouts and she's not in the top ten nationally. So that doesnt mean u know everthing Mr Scout. Have a happy holiday...

tyrone12

UR RIGHT

Hey, I wasn't disrespecting anyone. I am not saying that there is not talent in WV. But believe me after being on this message board I want no part of it. I was on the message board to see which teams in the state were ranked in the top three spots so we could follow some of those players too. Bays is an unbelievable talent doesn't mean other WV players aren't good. It is not very often you have a player from a state that can bring attention to girls basketball so that all players that normally might not be seen are. Alexis Hornbuckle did that and now Bays. But with all the negative feedback on this site I'll do recruiting reports for the other states in the Region I represent. It is down time for High School basketball in most states. If you are a good scout you use Regional Boards and sites to get polls on top teams and players. Was just doing my job. Good Luck to all of You.

xscoutusa

no disrespect to u... it was just the way you came across in your first statement as negative....so u get negative back, all parents are very protective over there kids, no matter what talent they have or dont have...me not being a scout, i would think its all in the approach, but im sure u no better than i.....since u were doing ur job, good luck to you as well.....

tyrone12

Bias

Back problems?
Sounds like you are a HHS parent?
The question was best players in the state. If you are truely a scout you should keep your eyes and ears open for Sara Sang because she is the real deal. She is a fast learner, great grades, great ability, very coachable and truely has what it takes.
As far as props go why does a player from a small school get looked down on? Have you ever heard of Jerry Rice? Small school but truely great. Don't put people down if you don't know them. They have played against each other before and Sang held her own against Bays.

Bias

No I am not an HHS parent. But from my sources in Huntington I know that you are Sara Sang's dad. Perhaps you are biased.

sounds like your sources are

sounds like your sources are other parents lol

XSCOUTUSA

keep up the good work!

With Brooks,Hockenberry,Leborious,Boarman,Hayes,Good,Sheehan,Shirley thats 8 great players right there and watch out for some of the freshmen that are now at the school. Some of them are going to be great.

GO EAGLES!!!

best players

my opinion is martin is the best big girl in the ncac...what do you guys think?

Best Players

GOOOOOOOOO Mona and Steph, in my opinion these are the 2 best in the quad county area .

Best Players

IMO, a great player is a player that make everyone else around them better players.

Byard at NM, most defintely makes everyone else around her better.

Michaels at MHS, the jury is still out, since she sat out the whole year last year.

Rowe at UHS, time will tell.

One thing for sure, the basketball in the Northern Region is getting better.

Fairmont West should be a player in the NCAC this year along with the obvious NM, MHS and UHS squads. It will be interesting to see how it all shapes up.

The first BIG contest is Morgantown at North Marion on December 17 at North Marion.

Michael

the jury doesnt need to be out with stephanie at mhs... she played all summer long and ran our team very well against some very outstanding teams in penn state, new jersey, DC and several other places the team played.... so she is definetly back at full speed and will lead mhs to another great season....

tyrone12

NCAC Top Players

I think all the players mentioned in the previous post are good players, including Martin and I never posted anything to the contrary. I would not say anything negative about any girl, my opinion that they may not be able to start for North was geared more as a positive statement about the North Team, nothing negative towards any of those girls. North Marions chemistry has alot to do with my feelings on this. I know the Conference well and the majority of the good players are at North, Morgantown and University, and there is no one player who stands out above the rest to any great extent. As I have said Byard is a DI player, are there other girls at these schools who can play at that level, yes I think there is... You have to remember there are alot of DI schools out there. But one thing is for sure there will be several of these girls playing DII in the WVC in the future.

good comment

i agree with what u say,cougar36 and to tell the truth i dont care whether my daughter plays D1, D2 or even D3 and the only thing about D3 schools is that they dont offer scholarships... she has offers from all 3 types of schools... i just want her to get a great education for her future life and play for four more years, end of story....

tyrone12

Tyrone12 , I agree

My daughter played for UHS last year and had alot of offers from different divisions. And the EDUCATION is the most important part. She chose to go to University of California in PA,the school has a fantastic basketball program and also a fantastic athletic training program. She will be using her degree when she is 40 not playing basketball. By the way Cal U is D2 and rank #2 nationaly by the way :)

wow

Well let's stop embellishing, they're ranked #2 in the PSAC West. Not the country.

I beg to differ :)

Defending national champion Northern Kentucky has been tagged No. 1 in the Division II Bulletin preseason womens' basketball poll. California (Pa.) ranks second, followed by West Texas A&M, Franklin Pierce and Alaska-Anchorage.

Cal u #2 in nation in preseason20008/2009

wow thats awesome, they should be proud of themselves....it will keep them working hard
go vulcans...

tyrone12

Oh, by the way

That is their standing in the PSAC West for the 2007-08 season. Nothing new has been released yet. But this team is something else , we'll see what happens :)

I know more about basketball

I know more about basketball than you could ever hope to know.
Oh and it's not thoughts and opinions it's the truth.
One more thing, you guys need to GROW UP!!!

I doubt that you know a basketball from a volleyball maj50

Enough said!!!!

YOU KNOW NOTHING

why dont you tell us where your from?
i dont mean anything bad but you dont
know anything if you think the martin
girl is on the same list with the other
girls you named.

The martin girl is pretty

The martin girl is pretty good, maybe not material for that list but who knows the season will tell the truth won't it? Byard will play D-1 def but who else on that list wouldn't start for north?

maj50

I can tell by looking at your top players
that you know nothing about basketball so
you need to stay off of this board.and
by the way what team is yours if you know
so much about the girls in your top players?

Go Huskies

Maj50, Byard may be a sophomore but she is an older 10th grader, who has played up her whole career. She is as good as any player in the state right now, no doubt.

There are only two returning players who received votes for player of the year in the NCAC last season and they both play for North. North could have place 4 or 5 girls on the first team all NCAC last year but you can only nominate 3. At least two of the girls you named could not even start for the North Marion Huskies.

And by the way I did not ask you if Byard was the best in the state. I simply stated I thought she was the best. You do not need to address me in your posts because I could care less about your thoughts and opinions.

Best Starting Lineup

North Marion probably has the best starting line up in the state. Byard, Parsons, Wright, Nicholson and Antolock all are going to play college ball somewhere. These players dont get alot of press because they are so team oriented and none of them put up big numbers because of the balance of the team. Its no big deal to them though because they are only interested in winning games. As far as marquee players go, I will say this , I coach these girls in the off season and I have had college coaches tell me they think that Byard is the best player in the state as a sophomore, and I would have to agree. Hopefully we will see her in the Gold and Blue in three years.

Best players?

Byard in my estimation is a legit D-1 player and will only get better the next few seasons. I agree with you cougar that she may be the best player in the state!

Eastern Panhandle top players

In the panhandle I would deem Marshall,Robinson and Brewer as marquee. But,there are many many other great players.

Jefferson -Dakeea Marshall 2nd team all state last year and Dezi Clinton is a 4 year starter.
Musselman -Nikki Stephenson was 2nd team all state last year.Morgan Harms is a good player too.
Washington-who knows ,they are new and young.
Hedgesville-Best big girl in area next to Marshall in Brittany Boarman, probably best shooters in area in Greyson Brooks and Katy Leborious.
Martinsburg -Iesha Robinson was player of year in 2 newspapers despite MHS having a poor record and she was 2nd team all state. Heard she has several college offers.
New kid Jackie Brewer- Scored 1000 pts in 2 seasons at her old school and in only a junior this year.Supposedly has offers from big time programs such as Notre Dame ,Virginia, Duke to name a few.
Yolanda Pinkett is improved and so is fellow junior Jamie Hill, both started as sophs for MHS last year.
Berkeley Springs has Alex Tamez, Booher and 3 or 4 other starters back and will be good AA team.

GO EAGLES!!!

Top players in EP

I'd agree with most of what you've added on here. It should be a competitive year. I think Martinsburg and Hedgesville will be the two teams to beat in the EP.

Jefferson- Depends on if Marshall will show up in shape and play to her talents and how the other players contribute
Musselman-Stephenson will need more help in order to carry the team
Washington- probably on JV level after the split
Hedgesville- very good outside shooting but Boarman needs to be more consistent, work on lateral quickness and fully utilizing her size. Brooks sometimes trys to do too much and Leborious plays too soft.
Martinsburg - like Hedgesville may suffer with depth and low post. Robinson is very talented offensively but she needs to work just as hard with sharing the ball and being a defensive stopper.
Brewer is probably the best shooter in the state. She is definite D1 talent. Her 3 pt range is better than a lot of guys and that is not an exaggeration. I've seen her shoot from 4 feet back of the 3 pt line and drain it. She also continuously works on her game and will probably lead the team in scoring. Defense is her weakness which she is trying to improve.
Pinkett has to bet better offensively to be a threat and Hill needs to continue to improve her outside shooting. Point guard play will also be crucial as they will have a soph (Da'Shel Wright) who didn't play with them start this year. She needs to work on ball handling more but has a good shot and is a great defensive player
Berkeley Springs has Tamez and Booher and Jessica Hayes so they should be a good AA team.

I have not seen the whole state

So I would not want to say who is better than who or who is the best shooter.I say let the season play out and enjoy the talent that is in this state this year.I doubt anyone is better than Bays based on her career and notice thus far.At the end the numbers and trophies will speak for themself.

GO EAGLES!!!

Mona Rowe University High Senior yr
Stephanie Michael Morgantown High Senior year
Mariah from NOrth Marion not sure what year

tyrone12

MARIAH BYARD is a soph from
